Construction Law
Meika is a specialist in construction law, with complementary
experience in building and construction disputes, property
and leaky building claims. Meika is able to advise on
complex and technical building issues. Her clients include
builders, developers and homeowners. With an extensive knowledge of
the Construction Contracts Act 2002, Meika is able to advise the
best way forward.
Company and Business Law
Meika has experience in advising on a broad range of company and
business law issues including: terms of trade, contracts for
services, Fair Trading Act issues, as well as corporate
restructuring and governance and Commerce Act advice.
Commercial Law
Meika is experienced in mergers, acquisitions, sale and purchase
of shares and shareholder agreements. Her clients include business
owners, directors and shareholders. She works closely with Geoff Hardy on
many of his commercial matters.
Litigation
Another area of complementary experience for Meika is her work
in the commercial dispute realm. Her knowledge of this area extends
to insolvency and creditors' rights including creditors' rights and
remedies and security interest issues under the Personal Properties
Securities Act 1999.
Meika holds an LLB(Hons) from University of Auckland and was
awarded the Faculty of Law Dean's Award for Academic Excellence.
She was admitted to the Bar in 2015. Prior to joining Martelli
McKegg she was a Solicitor with Madison Hardy.
Prior to studying law, Meika was a professional Ballet dancer in
Germany for many years. She has a Bachelors degree in Dance and is
fluent in German.
