The partners and staff of Martelli McKegg Lawyers mourn
the sudden and unexpected passing of Kay Keam. Kay was
a much loved and respected partner of Martelli McKegg having spent
over 17 years at the firm. She was an exceptional lawyer, mentor
and friend. Despite the pressures of her busy and specialised
practice, Kay always maintained a calm, assured and compassionate
demeanour.
Kay was a keen contributor to the Law Society through her
voluntary service on the ADLS Property Law Committee and as a NZLS
Standards Committee member. She was highly respected by those in
the legal profession and by her clients, many of whom became her
longstanding friends and friends of the firm.
Within the last few years Kay completed her LLM (with honours)
exemplifying her commitment to being the best lawyer she could be.
By her example and by her patience with others, she taught and
inspired her partners and young lawyers within the firm alike.
Kay is no longer with us, but the memories she gave us, the
example she set for us and the many other intangible gifts she
bestowed on us will continue undimmed.
Kay is and will remain sorely missed and will always be
remembered for the great lawyer and beautiful person that she
was.
Our deepest sympathies go to Richard, Robbie and Sarah and Kay's
wider family. We grieve with you.
